Food and nutrition are very important for hamsters. Just like humans, they need nutrients to stay healthy and if we keep a pet hamster, the least we could do is to give feed them enough nutrients. Not too much, not too less. Now that you know what you are able to feed your hamster, lets talk about types of food you could feed your hamster as a treat.

Seeds: When it comes to treats, the most common treat people think about are sunflower seeds. Lots of hamsters will enjoy seeds as a treat. You could buy some flax seeds or sunflower seeds and use it as a treat for taming hamsters. Don’t feed too many at one go though. Although seeds have a lot of nutrients in it, it could really be fattening for hamsters.

Fruits: Majority of fruits are sweet and they are healthy treats. You should cut a few small cubes of perhaps an apple for your hamster. Maybe other fruits too. Remember, you should only cut a few small cubes for your hamster. Think of the size of your hamster. Very small right? So the portion of the fruit you give it also should be very small. Understand now that I say it in a simple manner?

Insects: Try giving a few mealworms to your hamster as a treat. You could also add a few mealworms to your hamster food bowl if you use one. Mealworms are also healthy and rich in protein.

Basically, just remember don’t feed your hamster too many treats at one go. A small treat in your hand could be a huge treat to your hamster. Most importantly, remember to feed your hamster proper food for his/her diet too!
